Engineering Services Network Wins Multiple-Year IT Security Contract

ESN to Support Veterans Affairs Office of Information & Technology and the Office of Enterprise Security Solution Service Integration Test Lab (VA ESTS)

ARLINGTON, VA October 24, 2013Engineering Services Network, Inc. (ESN), an engineering and technology solutions company providing information technology  services to the Department of Defense and other federal agencies, announced a subcontract task order award to provide enterprise security testing services, and support VA security project initiatives  for the Department of Veterans Affairs Office of Information & Technology and the Office of Enterprise Security Solution Service Integration Test Lab (VA ESTS).  ESN will be providing subcontractor services to Systems Made Simple, Inc. (SMS), the Prime Contractor awarded the VA ESTS Task Order under SMS’ Transformation Twenty-One Total Technology (T4) contract vehicle.

We believe this contract award demonstrates ESN’s proven ability to provide enterprise security testing and IT security solutions to our government customers ,” said ESN President and CEO Raymond F. Lopez, Jr. “ESN looks forward to building on our longstanding relationship with the Veterans Affairs and our team partners as we move forward to provide the federal government with emerging technology solutions.”

On the project, ESN will work as a subcontractor to New York-based Systems Made Simple (SMS)  www.systemsmadesimple.com to provide support for daily security performance, integration, interoperability, and evaluation of emerging technology and existing configurations of general support systems and major applications throughout the VA IT Enterprise Architecture.

Like ESN, Systems Made Simple, Inc. is a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Business. Systems Made Simple, Inc. was founded by two businessmen who had a different approach. With backgrounds in systems engineering, SMS President, Al Nardslico, and CEO, Ron Fishbeck, believed that the company should be built on the foundation of providing innovative and quality solutions at a fair fixed cost. Since then, SMS has established itself as a clear leader in providing superior fixed price solutions to Fortune 500 companies and government agencies including the Department of Veterans Affairs, the National Association for Public Health Statistics and Information Systems (NAPHSIS), the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Carrier Corporation, and the New York Department of Health, to name a few. Based on its founders' guidance and insight, SMS remains dedicated to the delivery of innovative solutions quickly and cost effectively.

The contract calls for performance reevaluation of existing security technologies throughout the VA Enterprise in support of the Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC) requirements and VA stakeholders in accordance with VA migration strategies and version deployment. Also, the team will review configuration change requests for the Enterprise Change Control Board (ECCB) before configuration change recommendations to the Enterprise Architecture Management committee to ensure minimal impact of changes before implementation in the field.

“Through comprehensive reviews of configuration change requests, ESN will assist in ensuring that there are minimal impacts of changes before implementation in the field,” said Mr. Lopez.

The Office Enterprise Security Solution Service (ESSS) Integration Test Lab (ITL) mission is to provide an objective test environment to support VA security project initiatives, security configuration implementation, new product evaluation, and security guidelines and policy compliance for VA Information Protection & Risk Management (IP&RM) through the testing of Enterprise Security Change Control Board (ESCCB) approved or pilot security architecture components.
