ESN Partner with Avalon Technology
to Support $93M GSA Contract
ESN and Avalon set to Deliver Streamlined Wireless Devices
Management to U.S. Agencies
ARLINGTON, VA (Feb. 1, 2008) – Engineering Services
Network Inc. (ESN), a trusted leader in engineering and technology
solutions, today announced that it will be providing services
to Avalon Technology, Inc., which was one of three prime vendors
selected to provide Telecom Expense Management services to
13 federal agencies under a GSA contract. Through its strategic
partnership with Avalon Technology, ESN will deliver efficient
and streamlined wireless managed services to the Federal government.
The GSA Federal Strategic Sourcing Initiative (FSSI) Telecommunications
Expense Management (TEM) contract term is two years, with three
one-year options, valued at $93 million.
“ESN is excited to partner with Avalon to bring wireless-use
efficiency and considerable savings to U.S. agencies,” said
Raymond F. Lopez Jr., president and CEO of ESN, a service-disabled,
veteran-owned company. “By streamlining processes, we
can help the GSA marshal the government’s buying power
while delivering innovation and flexibility.”
Under the contract, the Avalon/ESN team will help the GSA
offer federal agencies a streamlined and comprehensive process
for ordering telecommunications and wireless services. GSA
officials say without TEM, agencies spend inordinate amounts
of money on wireless services. TEM can save millions of dollars
by reviewing wireless-device inventories and calling plans,
pooling minutes and minimizing costs.
“Together, Avalon and ESN will harness our expertise
to help the GSA and other federal agencies inventory their
wireless technologies and deliver a strategy for saving them
and U.S. taxpayers millions,” said Irv Rodrigues, president
and chief technology officer (CTO) of Avalon Technology.
Representatives of 13 federal agencies serve on the FSSI Wireless
Team, developing a strategic-sourcing approach to the problem.
The agencies spend about $122.7 million annually in wireless-service
fees for nearly 218,700 devices, but some agencies cannot provide
accurate data.
GSA officials said that the Transportation Security Administration
and the Homeland Security Department saved 25%-40% on wireless
services by doing inventory reviews and that the FSSI Wireless
Team aims to achieve that benchmark from TEM.
