ESN Project Manager at ESN Elected President of National Contract Management Association's Rhode Island Chapter

ARLINGTON, VA (March 23, 2010) – Engineering Services Network Inc. (ESN), a trusted leader in engineering and technology solutions, announced today that project manager Kimberly Matthews has been elected President of Rhode Island Chapter of the National Contract Management Association.

As a project manager for ESN, Matthews works with the Naval Undersea Warfare Center Division in Newport, RI, and the Air Force Electronic System Center (ESC) at Hanscom AFB, MA.

NCMA is a membership-based, professional society that was formed in 1959 to foster the professional growth and educational advancement of its members.

“We at ESN congratulate Kimberly Matthews on this great professional achievement,” said ESN President and CEO Raymond F. Lopez, Jr. “ESN has been active in NCMA, and we support its mission of advancing its members’ professional education and fostering relationships with the local community.”

ESN performs engineering, IT and business consulting services for the U.S. military, Veterans Affairs, and other federal agencies.

Matthews, who served as vice president/secretary of the association, was elected to the two-year position by NCMA members and the local contracting community.

“As a young professional, I can’t say how honored I am to be elected as president among a community of seasoned and experienced executives,” Matthews said. “I am eager to accept the challenge and responsibility not only for myself but as a representative of ESN.”

ESN has sponsored several NCMA events, including numerous “Industry Days,” which help bridge the local contracting community with the needs of the Naval Undersea Warfare Center Division Newport.

ESN’s Dennis Nichols, director of Newport Operations, has previously served as president of the Rhode Island chapter.

Together with Nichols and the NCMA executive board, Matthews planned the chapter’s first training symposium, offering contracting classes to more than 170 attendees. She is working on the second training event on June 3.

“All classes have been certified by the Defense Acquisition University and NCMA and count for continuing learning points toward higher learning/professional certifications,” she said.

“We are hoping to gain visibility in the community and form a stronger relationship with our local higher education institutions,” said Matthews, who has a bachelor’s degree in Electronic Imaging from the University of Massachusetts at Dartmouth. “With the current economic times and the cost of higher education, I’m working on setting up scholarships to provide education assistance to those students who want to study business/program/contracts management.”

Inc. magazine named ESN one of the 5,000 fastest-growing private companies in the U.S. in 2009 and 2008, and among the top 100 fastest growing defense contractors in the U.S. in 2007. ESN also was listed in 2009 among the top 500 Hispanic-owned companies in the U.S.
