ESN Earns $7.5 Million Fourth
Award Term on Naval Surface Warfare Center Contract
ARLINGTON, VA (May 12, 2010) – Engineering Services Network
Inc. (ESN), a trusted leader in engineering and technology
solutions, announced today that it has earned a $7.5 million
fourth award term year on its U.S. Navy contract at the Naval
Surface Warfare Center, Port Hueneme Division (NSWC PHD).
The recently awarded fourth award term year has a value of
$7,472,859. Execution of the first award term year began in
May 2010.
“We’re honored that the Navy has continued to
entrust ESN and its dedicated employees with this mission-critical
contract,” said ESN President and CEO Raymond F. Lopez,
Jr. “Our employees on the contract are very passionate
about what they do to support the fleet. It’s not just
a job to them.”
ESN’s combat system engineers who work on the contract
represent decades of active duty Navy and Marine Corps experience
and expertise on all facets of their respective combat systems.
ESN performs engineering, IT and business consulting services
for the U.S. military, Veterans Affairs, and other federal
agencies.
ESN was awarded the original contract in 2005, with the possibility
of being awarded additional five one-year periods based on
performance. The cumulative contract value for 10 years is
$67,551,659, with a base year and four-option year value of
$31,282,427 and the five one-year award term year value of
$36,269,232.
Under the contract, ESN provides engineering resources for
planning and coordinating the installation of Combat System
Ship Platform Integration in aircraft carriers, L-Class ships
and other strike group and strike force units. ESN evaluates
design concepts and develops technical documentation to support
those efforts on current and proposed Combat System and C5I
Programs.
In addition, ESN’s duties include support of Commander
Naval Air Forces staff; Commander Naval Surface Forces units;
Program Executive Officer, Integrated Warfare Systems staff;
and NSWC PHD staff engineers, as well as planning and execution
of Deploying Group System Integration Testing (DGSIT) process
for the Marines Expeditionary Forces.
ESN employs 41 people to perform the contract in Port Hueneme,
CA; San Diego, CA; Camp Pendleton, CA; Bremerton, WA; Norfolk,
VA; Washington, DC; Camp Lejeune, NC; Berkeley Springs, WV;
Sea Island, GA; Yokosuka, Japan; and Okinawa, Japan. ESN anticipates
moderate growth on the contract over the next year.
“Many of ESN’s employees on this mission are veterans,
and their dedication to duty, attention to detail and outstanding
performance has been cited in numerous Letters of Appreciation
and Commendations from Navy flag officers, USMC general officers
and unit commanding officers,” Lopez said.
“Their work ensures that the combat systems of the fleet
aircraft carriers, surface combatants and embarked units are
fully operational and mission ready,” he said. “We
at ESN are honored to serve our country and are ready for duty
when called.”
For example, the USS Carl Vinson (CVN 70) had recently completed
a major modernization on the East Coast and was en route its
home port on the West Coast when Haiti suffered a devastating
earthquake. The ship was diverted to Haiti to assist in the
quake’s aftermath. Onboard was an ESN employee who was
coordinating combat system maintenance efforts. The ESN employee
remained aboard the ship beyond his original mission.
