News Release 07-14-2010
Engineering Services Network, Inc. (Corporate Press Release)

ESN ranks 53 among service-disabled veteran-owned companies contracting with U.S.

ARLINGTON, VA (June 14, 2010) – Engineering Services Network Inc. (ESN), a trusted leader in technology and engineering solutions, announced today that it’s among the Top 100 companies owned by service-disabled veterans contracting with the federal government, according to Federal Times and USAspending.gov.

With federal contract awards approaching $26 million in fiscal 2009, ESN ranked 53 on the list.

“As a Navy veteran, I am honored to be able to continue to serve my country,” said ESN President and CEO Raymond F. Lopez, Jr. “We at ESN never forget our mission to the people who defend our freedom and the nation that makes those liberties possible.”

ESN performs, IT, engineering, program management services, and business consulting services for the U.S. military, Veterans Affairs, and other federal agencies.

Federal contracting with businesses owned by service-disabled veterans has steadily increased, from 0.5% of awards in 2005 to 1.8% in 2009, according to USAspending.gov. Yet, by the government’s standards, the 2009 rate fell short of the government-wide goal to award at least 3% of contracts to service-disabled vets, according to the Federal Times. The top contractor in the Federal Times was Mission Essential Personnel, a translation services company in Columbus, Ohio.

ESN’s Lopez is a retired Mustang who served for over 29 years in the Navy and learned leadership and ethics from the deck plates to the Wardroom. He attributes his business acumen to his naval service, which taught him the importance of striving for excellence, staying motivated and maintaining credibility.

Lopez has built ESN, founded in 1995, from its first $25,000 task order. The company is based in Arlington, VA, and has locations worldwide.

“The drive, ethics and hard work I learned in the military served me well on warships and the boardroom,” Lopez said. “That’s what our country’s businesses need, and nobody can deliver that like veterans.”

ESN is ISO 9001:2008 certified and has achieved CMMI® ML 2 for Development Version 1.2.

Inc. magazine named ESN one of the 5,000 fastest-growing private companies in the U.S. in 2009 and 2008, and among the top 100 fastest growing defense contractors in the U.S. in 2007. ESN also was listed in 2010 and 2009 among the top 500 Hispanic-owned companies in the U.S.

Based in Arlington, VA, ESN has regional and field offices throughout the U.S. and worldwide. Founded in 1995, ESN has achieved ISO 9001:2000 certification. ESN customers include the U.S. Navy, U.S. Army, U.S. Air Force, U.S. Marine Corps, Military Sealift Command, Department of Health and Human Services and other federal agencies. ESN is a service-disabled veteran-owned small business (SDVOSB).
