ESN CEO Raymond F. Lopez Jr.
Addresses Hawaii Small Business Information Technology Forum
ARLINGTON, VA (October 2009) – ESN CEO and President
Raymond F. Lopez, Jr. spoke recently at the Hawaii Small Business
Information Technology Forum: 2009 Teaming for Success at the
Japanese Culture Center of Hawaii, located in Honolulu.
The event was sponsored by Office of Hawaiian Affairs, Group
HI, Bering Sea Group, Northrop Grumman, Engineering Services
Network (ESN), KCS Communications, Epsilon Systems, Group ESN
and GMP Hawaii.
Lopez, who has grown ESN from its first $25,000 task order
to more than $26 million in revenue in 2008, spoke at the event
on the topic of, “Key to Success and Teaming Strategies.”
The former high school football coach used sports metaphors
to make his points, including “First and Ten: On the
Road to the “Big Show.”
Lopez told his audience to develop a “Play Book,” and
follow it. He talked about “Holding the Line” via
tactical and strategic planning and developing company skill
sets, like the ISO 9001:2000 certification that ESN earned.
Along the way, he signed up stars to help in company’s
business development efforts, and ultimately to win new contracts
and keep growing the company.
And he always stresses team sprit. “You have the right
to fail, and the right to succeed! Do not allow anyone, group
or organization to take that right from you,” said Lopez,
who served his country for more than 29 years before retiring
from the Navy in 1994 as a full Commander and becoming president
and CEO of ESN in 1995.
And don’t forget to have “Big Mo on Your Side,” making
references to prestigious rankings on the Inc. 5000 list and
Hispanic Business 500.
