Veterans Affairs Awards ESN
$12.5 Million Contract to Stregthen Enterprise Network Security
ARLINGTON, VA – Engineering Services Network Inc. (ESN),
a trusted leader in engineering and technology solutions, announced
today that it has been awarded a $12.5 million contract from
the U. S. General Services Administration (GSA) under the GSA
VETS GWAC to support the Department of Veterans Affairs, Field
Security Operations (FSO), Network Security Operation Center
(NSOC) Critical Infrastructure Protection Service (CIPS).
The contract, which began in September 2009, is for one base
year, plus four option years.
Under the contract, ESN provides Network Security Support
Services centering on Security Event Information Management
for Computer Network Defense. ESN officials said all work will
be conducted at VA facilities in Hines, IL, and Falling Waters,
WV. The VA NSOC is primarily supported by a “Tier III” 7
X 24 X 365 Service Desk to aid in fulfilling its IT Service
Management goals. This will be ESN’s second technology
support contract for the VA.
“As a service-disabled veteran-owned small business,
we at ESN are honored to be entrusted by GSA and the VA to
support this mission-critical task,” said ESN President
and CEO Raymond F. Lopez, Jr. “More than 60 percent of
ESN employees are veterans, so we appreciate the important
role of the VA and the need to protect their constituent’s
personal information and the systems that deliver their benefits.”
ESN is part of a team assembled by the VA to deliver Managed
Security Services to monitor and manage both network and host-based
Intrusion Protection Systems. These services include nationwide
antivirus platform support, testing, monitoring, detection,
and prevention for over 250,000 desktops, laptops, and workstations
at the Falling Waters, WV, facility. Public Key Infrastructure
(PKI) “soft” certificate management security support
is performed at the VA facilities in Falling Waters, WV, and
Hines, IL, and includes PKI call center support, analysis,
and the maintenance of the knowledge management database supporting
nationwide certificate management, PKI-enabled servers and
applications throughout the VA enterprise.
Under this new task order, ESN will assist the VA in improving
the way security services are provided. The VA’s vision
through this ESN task is to provide an integrated, one-stop
security Network Security Services Support solution to enable
users to receive security services through a Service Desk that
serves as the single point of contact.
“This new VA task is an important and logical extension
of work ESN has been doing in support of multiple DOD customers
for well over a decade in the areas of infrastructure engineering
and information assurance, and is a step forward in ESN’s
corporate strategy to become a VA leader in both of those core
competencies,” said Gregory Allen, ESN Executive Director
for Veterans Affairs and Small Business.
Inc. magazine named ESN one of the 5,000 fastest-growing private
companies in the U.S. in 2009 and 2008, and among the top 100
fastest growing defense contractors in the U.S. in 2007. ESN
also was listed in 2009 among the top 500 Hispanic-owned companies
in the U.S.
