COMPUTER OPERATORS and HELP DESK TECHNICIANS (Levels Two and Three)

 

Education and Professional Experience:

High School/Vocational School diploma or GED Certificate with four (4) years of work related experience.

 

Specialized Experience in hardware / software / networks:

 

Hardware and Operating Systems:         System 390 hardware including os/ 390 and VM/ESA.

Tools and Utilities:      VPS. CMASPOOL, SDSF, Netview, Remedy, Visual and Trace Route

System Software and Programming:   JES2, VTAM, TSO, JCL, CLISTS, IMS,  RACF, IDMS, ACF2, and COBOL

Communications Networks:   NOVELL, BANYAN, Remote Connectivity Software, TCP/IP,    LAN Protocols

 

A total of two (2) years of experience to include the development and manipulation of multi-level compound security. Experience applying Military Standards / guidelines for digital data and electronic technical documentation.

 

Expected Capabilities:

 

Understand authored application for various source data and documents (Technical Manuals, Specifications, User Manuals).  In addition to operating the system and resolving common error conditions, diagnoses and acts on machine stoppage and conditions not fully covered by existing procedures and guidelines.  In response to computer output instructions or error conditions, may deviate from standard procedures if standard procedures do not provide a solution.  Refers problems that do not respond to corrective procedures.  Supports, monitors, tests and troubleshoots hardware and software problems pertaining to LAN; Maintains computer system hardware and peripherals.

 

First level management in directly supervising staff.  Schedules staff to obtain proper response in a timely manner.  Offers recommendations for improvement of infrastructure / operating environment.

 

Additional Experience:

A total of three (2) years of cumulative specialized experience in Life Cycle Configuration Management support for a complex integrated system.
