Navy Awards ESN an Additional $7.7 Million Contract to Provide Combat Systems Engineering and Systems Integration Support

ARLINGTON, VA – Engineering Services Network, Inc. (ESN), an engineering and technology solutions company that provides services to the Department of Defense and other federal agencies, recently earned an additional $7.7 million contract year to provide combat systems engineering and systems integration support to the U.S. Navy.

During the additional contract year, ESN will provide critical services for aircraft carriers, amphibious units and their strike groups so they can maintain a high level of mission readiness with full operational combat system capabilities. The mission is to support the Navy’s government combat system engineering experts at the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Port Hueneme Division, in California. The division ensures that fleet aircraft carriers, surface combatants and embarked units’ combat systems are fully operational and mission ready.

This is the fifth award term earned by ESN under this contract, which also includes one base year and four option years. In the industry, it is considered a remarkable achievement for a company to earn five award term years on a single contract. The evaluation criteria for earning award term years includes performance, quality and cost-effectiveness.

“It validates the fact that we’re able to provide on-time quality service to our customers at a reasonable cost while helping them provide innovative solutions to the fleet,” said Raymond F. Lopez, Jr., President and CEO of ESN. “Our team along with PHD has proven that when we work as one, superior useable products are delivered to the Warfighter!

Said ESN Program Manager Linda Rivera, “All of our deliverables are either provided on-time or a head of time.”

ESN was awarded the original contract by Naval Surface Warfare Center, Port Hueneme Division (NSWC, PHD) in April 28, 2005. With the execution of the fifth award term year, the contract now has a completion date of April 30, 2015, making it a 10-year contract and a total award value of $74 million. This year’s award will include several follow-on task orders for ESN.

“ESN’s combat system engineers who work on the contract have decades of active-duty Navy experience and expertise on all facets of their respective combat systems,” said Mr. Lopez.

Under this contract, ESN will establish an engineering resource for planning and coordinating the installation of Combat System, Command, Control, Communications, Computer and Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (C5ISR) Systems in aircraft carriers and other strike group or strike force units, including LHA, LHD, LPH and other L-class units. In addition, ESN’s team will evaluate design concepts and develop technical documentation to support those efforts on current and proposed Combat System and C5ISR programs.

To perform the task orders, ESN’s veteran team includes 45 full-time and six part-time employees in various locations, including Port Hueneme, CA, San Diego, Bremerton/Everett, WA, Norfolk, VA, Washington, D.C., Berkeley Springs, WV, and Japan. Ms. Rivera said ESN will be adding two employees in Port Hueneme and one in San Diego.
